What is womb-friendly Yoga?
Traditionally Hatha Yoga was practised and passed on by men, and until very recently, most Yogic lineages were closely guarded secrets passed from teacher to pupil.
Yet there has been a turning of the tides, and in our modern world, Yoga has become an open resource shared by a vast global community, who are primarily women. Millions of women are now practising and teaching Yoga, awakening a higher consciousness of feminine strength and sovereignty - that has been suppressed in our culture. Things are shifting, and our passion for Yoga and the reclamation of our bodies is a vital part of this change.
Womb Yoga, created by Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, is a therapeutic approach to Yoga to move in a way that suits a woman's body and nourishes the cycles, seasons and sacred thresholds in our lives. Practices that reconnect you with your womb or womb space to nurture the Shakti energy (mother consciousness) while reviving the loving wisdom of the heart weaving the threads of connection.
With awareness and respect for the rhythms of our bodies and the stages and passages in our lives, we honour the cycles of the natural world, which is a positive step towards planetary change. Restoring the feminine quality of relatedness and the unifying consciousness that connects us to all of life; to other humans, to the non-humans who share this planet with us, to nature and the rhythms of nature.
